Problem with implementation of the option window scale TCP is defined in IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) RFC Request For Comments () 1323. By default, the functionality of Automatic receive window in Windows Vista uses a scale factor of the window of 8 for non-HTTP connections. This problem does not occur when you try to establish an HTTP connection.

Make sure you are connected to the Internet by looking at other Web sites. If you are unable to connect to a Web site, contact your Internet service provider (company that provides Internet access.) Or the administrator of your LAN. If you are unable to connect to the Internet, check your proxy settings in Internet Explorer are correct. Contact your Internet service provider (company that provides Internet access.) Or your network administrator for the settings to use. To clear your proxy settings in Internet Explorer, follow these steps:
    • Start Internet Explorer.
    • On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
    • On the Connections tab, click LAN Settings.
    • Uncheck Automatically detect connection settings.
    • Click OK, then OK again.

Missing or incompatible network drivers are probably one of the most common causes of network problems or reduced connectivity. Call the Device Manager (e.g. via the search box in the Start menu) and verify whether the network adapter appears as error-free. On the Driver tab, if necessary, should be checked on the update driver button if updated drivers are available via Microsoft Update.

If there are problems to get through LAN or WLAN to the network or the Internet, should also be considered that the router may have hung up and then the DHCP server assigns IP addresses no longer. So be careful off the router, unplug it and hold for 10 seconds (up to 1 / 2 minute) the power switch. This is the most routers back to a defined starting point (for more details can be found in the manufacturer's documentation if necessary). There are also routers, which bears as a problem for Windows Vista are known.

Check adapter settings - Enter Gateway: the settings of the network adapter (LAN or WLAN) or when using a network bridge, the bridge will be checked (located in the Network Connections window, the icon select with a right click and select the context menu, select Properties - then select the IPv6 protocol and click the Properties button) . On the General tab of the properties of Internet Protocol IPv6 address should be marked automatically obtain. The adapter can also view the properties (either via the Network Connections folder window or through the Device Manager). There should be on the Properties tab, the value may be "speed / duplex settings" set to "Auto Negotiation". Are there problems with the network connection when waking from sleep mode, can disable the power management settings for the adapter.
