Re: Unidentifed Network - Limited Connectivity

Jordeo - Your problem is the following "...Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. .
: 169.254.128.229..." - the address "169...." is assigned by Windows when
DHCP (Usually a router) has not assigned an IP address (Usually "192....").

Re: Unidentifed Network - Limited Connectivity

check if there is a new firmware for the router or driver for the NIC. Or
this search result may help.

Re: Unidentifed Network - Limited Connectivity

You aint getting DHCP by the looks of it.

I'll make a guess your router distributes DHCP.

In the first instance I would recommend you check the cable between
your desktop and the router and also maybe worth power cycling the
router.

Re: Unidentifed Network - Limited Connectivity

Nope, this didn't work and plus when i have the ethernet cable plugged
into my router it automatically switches it's self back on :S

Also i had a look at hidden Network adapters and found all these hiding
there. Is this needed?

Re: Unidentifed Network - Limited Connectivity

To get rid of Limited connection

make sure all cables are secure and connected
go to control panel or right click connection icon at the task bar
go to network and sharing center and make sure that each network is set to
Private Network
go to customize to change from Public to Private

if that does not work

Turn off your modem
unplug modem power cord
unplug the cat5 cable to the modem
unplug your router from the power outlet

after 30 sec

reconnect cat5 cable to modem
plug modem power cord to the outlet
plug router power cord to outlet
press the modem on button

The above steps are to refresh, repair or reset connection

Then there may be power loss from your cable provider to your location

Re: Unidentifed Network - Limited Connectivity

ok boys... here is the solution....

The problem is Windows Vista Home Premium does not know how to connect
to wireless networks using the WEP Key...

If you Disable Wireless Security (i.e. No WEP Key)... and try to
connect to your router.... you will have LOCAL AND INTERNET
connection... and your Vista Home Premium connects to the internet
wirelessly...

The minute you put WEP security back on..... Vista cannot understand it
anymore... and your connection to the internet is cut off....

YES!!... THIS IS A VISTA PROBLEM.... nothing else....

And the people at Microsoft DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT YET!!!
