Hey friends, I have a Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 system connected with wired modem router. I have a (PPPoE) internet connection. Problem is that I noticed it sending continues data to the IP address 224.0.0.252. I don’t know what IP is this. But I want to stop it. Can anybody please tell me how can I stop this??

    Thank you,.

I don’t have any idea what could be that IP and why is it sending data to it. Probably, I suspect your system has spyware. The very first thing you need to do is block that IP in your system’s Firewall. This will help you to find out which exactly program is sending data to that IP. Other than this download/install Spyware scanner on your system and scan your complete system.

You can get the details of that particular IP address here http://www.who.is/whois-ip/ip-address/224.0.0.252/. Most probably 224.0.0.252 is a multicast address limited to your local subnet. It could be your Vista computer is using Link-Local Multicast Name Resolution (LLMNR) to find other computers on the local network. What I can suggest you is scan your computer with Spybot or Malwarebytes.
