Vista Home does not remember network password

I recently installed Windows Vista on my computer and I cannot have Windows to remember the password to my network drives. This also happens to a Samba and also a standalone network disk. It will continuously ask me for the password after each restart. This Vista pc is not in a domain, it is just a workgroup. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?

It seems to me that you didnt create matching user accounts and passwords on all the systems. Once you have done that, then you will not be asked for credentials if you want to access shared resources. Also, if you have linux then you need to add the users to Samba users with smbpasswd -a. So, try to create matching user accounts and passwors on all the machines.

For some more information, you should note that Home version of both Windows XP and Vista cant save credentials. This is usually very confusing because microsoft knowingly includes the 'remember password' checkbox in the home versions and Windows simply ignores it. However, you can try to create matching users is a start up batch file in the form of net use [X:] \\servername\sharename /USER"username password , where X is the drive letter.
