I tried running net view, it gave me the list of network computer, but this is not the full list, this is the same list as Satrt -> Network give the devices connected on the network. Net Share, i run that command from a PC which is showing up on network and the other which is not showing up on the network. Both gave me the same result. Errors : where do u want me to see the errors, i dont get any errors Thanks Junaid "Robert L. (MS-MVP)" wrote: > Net view should list all sharing computers. | Re: Pc not showing in Network
Are the computers that are not showing up actually sharing anything? Normally, domain environments don't share between workstations, but rather all workstations will be able to see the shared resources on the servers (Domain controller, Exchange server, file server, etc) but normally don't see each other. Why are you trying to get the workstations to see each other? Are there some unique resources that need to be accessed by all users? Maybe if you could describe your network in a little more detail it would help. Thanks for you r response, actually i am trying to get hold of all the software and hardware inventory of my domain pcs, i am using a software which scans my domain pcs showing in Network and gives me all of this information. I can see few Pcs in that list but not all, so i can't get the inventory of all my PCs. We have a domain setup and all the pcs user connect t our domain and all the users have firewall enabled and Symantec Endpoint enable with network threat enable thanks "daleeh" wrote: > Are the computers that are not showing up actually sharing anything? > > Normally, domain environments don't share between workstations, but > rather all workstations will be able to see the shared resources on > the servers (Domain controller, Exchange server, file server, etc) but > normally don't see each other. > > Why are you trying to get the workstations to see each other? I agree with Dale "domain environments don't share between workstations". That will make a lot traffics. Some inventory software may use SNMP instead of sharing all workstations. If you do want to see all computers' list, you may want to check WINS settings or NetBIOS over TCP/IP. -- Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on http://www.ChicagoTech.net How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on http://www.HowToNetworking.com "Junaid" <Junaid@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:752A8BFB-9EB1-479F-AAA2-EF1B22D41BE3@microsoft.com... > Thanks for you r response, actually i am trying to get hold of all the > software and hardware inventory of my domain pcs, i am using a software > which > scans my domain pcs showing in Network and gives me all of this > information. > I can see few Pcs in that list but not all, so i can't get the inventory > of > all my PCs. > We have a domain setup and all the pcs user connect t our domain and all > the > users have firewall enabled and Symantec Endpoint enable with network > threat > enable > thanks > > > "daleeh" wrote: > >> Are the computers that are not showing up actually sharing anything? >> >> Normally, domain environments don't share between workstations, but >> rather all workstations will be able to see the shared resources on >> the servers (Domain controller, Exchange server, file server, etc) but >> normally don't see each other. >> >> Why are you trying to get the workstations to see each other? What software? Describe your domain in a bit more detail--i.e. servers, workstations, switches, IP structure, etc. That will help others help you. So far your descriptions have been very vague. I've used a couple of software products to scan networks and collect data, but to get into each PC on a network and extract data about programs, files, hardware, etc. usually requires software running on each PC to do the job properly--especially given the need for security these days. I think we just simply need more details to help you out. If you are unable or unwilling to provide them, then help may not be available.
