Marvell Yukon 88E8056 Gigabit connecting @ 100Mbps on Auto-Negotiate

I had just done with configuration of a new system. The motherboard is ASus Rampage with Marvel Yukon 88E8056 Gigabit Controller. Now this gigabit ethernet controller offers a speed of maximum 100mbps. I am facing a bit slower compared to the specification mentioned and it is annoying me. I had set the configuration on auto. So the bios itself manages the speed based the connectivity. But I am not getting the expected ratio. I had updated the drivers but still the speed is one and the same. I think Auto-Negotiate is not going to work well for getting a better speed that I am expecting. any idea on this. Does there will be a difference between Windows XP and Windows Vista.

It depends on the quality of NIC. If possible you can go inside the bios settings and there you can find related option. You can modify the settings as per your choice also. I am sure it is not a complicated option to find aspect ratio you are looking for. You test the transfer speed and try to get new drivers updates. If there is some issue then there are chances that you will be facing some hardware issue. I do not think on such minor issue Asus will give any support. It can also be due the OS limitation.
