| Re: Disconnecting every 10-40 minutes
I faced the same problem a while ago with an XP box. It was totaly resolved after making a static entry of the router's MAC address in the ARP cach. Follow the following steps to make a static entry for your default gateway. (You should do the following step while the connection is working proberly, otherwise, you should do the first step from another working computer" 1- Click start, type cmd and press enter 2-ping any website (may be www.yahoo.com) 3- type (arp -a) and press enter 4- locate the line with your routers "default gateway" IP address 5- Read and take a note of the Physical address 6- type (arp -s ipofdefaultgateway physical address) For example if the Default Gateway IP is 10.0.0.1 and the physical address is 00-aa-00-62-c6-09, the the command should read like that (arp -s 10.0.0.1 00-aa-00-62-c6-09) now test the internet connection without restarting the PC. If everything is fine, go ahead to step 7. 7- create a new file named arp-static.bat 8- inside the file type only the previous arp command (arp -s ipofdefaultgateway physical address) 9-place this file anywhere, then create a shortcut to this file in the startup folder in the startmenu. 10- restart your PC and test it.
