| still cant open attachments in windows mail ?
Hi still cant open attachments in windows mail, can you send me some updates? this is my worst experience of a MS product ever. I doubt that this product has been tested properly and to ask your customers to do it is unfair? Have tried the file tye association have tried various versions of word already! |

So as you appear to have started a completely new thread (I assume you have posted about this before) can you tell us what happens when you try to open attachments, and that you have tried IN DETAIL please to fix it? |

Hi Gordon I have tried the file type associations. I have purchased 2007 despite my reservations and preference to 2003 MS office. I have reset file type associations I have downloaded a link from another comment box from the ofconline help, still no joy. I can save attachments to desktop and open fine. I get occ "not responding" from mail and it locks up after I get the error" file type association messages" is there a patch for this? |

Hi Gordon I can not open attachements. I have upgraded my version of office to 2007 from 2003 I have reset the file tye associations 100+ , rebooted and downloaded a patch file from office helponline still not able to open attachments and am now getting "not responding" and have to close mail and reopen to use. Once windowa mail is open is does not received mail until it is closed down again. (noticed this today, up unitl now i have been restarting so oftern didnt notice it) can i have a patch to sort this out? |

If the attachment you are trying to open is winmail.dat, does your new version of Office include Outlook, the program needed to open such attachments? Not all of the 2007 versions do. <http://us1.trymicrosoftoffice.com/default.aspx?re_ms=oo&culture=en-US> There have been no new hotfixes available for Windows Mail available for about 17 months, and the only one I know about probably isn't relevant to your problem. For the problems with Windows Mail downloading mail too infrequently, click on Tools, then Accounts, then your email account, then Properties. If there is no checkmark in the box before Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing, click on this box, then Apply. Click on OK, then Close. Click on Tools, then Options. If there is no checkmark in the box before Check for new messages every, click on this box then Apply. You may also want to click on the triangles to the right of the number of minutes and adjust it, but not to less than 5 minutes, then click Apply. Click on Send. If there is no checkmark in the box before Send messages immediately, it sometimes helps to click on this box, then Apply. Click on OK. |
