Can't import my Outlook Express 6 messages into Microsoft Mail

I'm trying to import my stored OE6 mail (sent.dbx, drafts.dbx, etc.) into MS
Mail (Vista Ultimate 32bit) but each time I use 'import messages/microsoft
outlook express 6' and browse to the folder my dbx files are stores (in my
case D:/backup/) I get the error message, "No messages can be found in this
folder". I've checked and double checked the file locations, but MS Mail
just refuses to accept the files are there!

Any help would be appreciated.

The Read only attribute needs to be removed from your store folder.

Does that location include the file Folders.dbx? If not, then Windows Mail
will not recognise the location as an OE message store, as in your error
message. Do you still have access to the old machine? If so, then find and
copy the folders.dbx file into the folder you are trying to import from.

Thank you all for the replies.

Unfortunately I don't have the folders.dbx file so I guess my only solution
is to import the files into OE6 and then export again, keeping the
folders.dbx file?

I think I've seen a message saying you could use the folders.dbx file
from an OE6 setup on another machine where you have the same
list of folders and at least one message in each folder.
