Backup of emails with Windows Mail (Vista)

I recently installed Windows Vista 64bit on one of my computer. I also have 2 other systems those are still running with XP and use to access Outlook Express as my Default mail Client. The only problem I was facing with OE is it use to store the messages deep somewhere in Document and Settings directory that also Encrypted. So every time I need to backup them, I need to use Outlook.

Now as am thinking to use Windows Mail on Vista as email client, I want to confirm if here also is the same scenario? Can I backup emails separately in Windows mail ? thanks for your advises.

The very first to know is where windows mail is saving your messages because once you get the directory where the messages are saved you can make use of any backup program and take backup your emails. To know that you need to click on Tools in Windows mail, go to Options and click Advanced. Now select maintenance and click Store Folder.

This will be the directory where your emails are stored and probably the format use to be .eml and .nws. Now if you want to backup these files, open windows explorer and set it to Show Hidden files. Visit to the Store directory and get your emails backed up.
