Can anyone help? I have set up an IMAP connection between Gmail and Windows Mail. Email synchronisation works, with one error which is: Header download for the '[Google Mail]' folder did not complete. Could not select '[Google Mail]' on the IMAP server. You might try refreshing your folder list to synchronize with the IMAP server. Account: 'imap.gmail.com', Server: 'imap.gmail.com', Protocol: IMAP, Server Response: 'Unknown Mailbox: [Google Mail] (Failure)', Port: 993, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCCD2 Do you know how I can fix this? I have tried to refresh my folder list in Windows Mail by going to Tools - IMAP folders and clicking Reset List. However, this did not make any difference. |

Sorry I don't have a solution, but I have the same problem. Hopefully by adding my experience, it'll help make this topic more "visible" and increase our chances of getting a resolution. In my case, the questionable folder is called [Gmail]. It's a pain in the neck because it says the folder doesn't exist on the server, yet Gmail created it automatically... and it's the parent folder to several other folders! I can't delete it, rename it, or anything. Thankfully, it doesn't happen frequently, as this is a "secondary" account that doesn't get much activity. But it's still an annoyance, especially since it seems so simple, yet I can't fix it. I am getting the same error from gmail. seems to be something that started on Jan 2. I wonder if they changed something over at gmail that is causing this error. Header download for the '[Google Mail]' folder did not complete. Could not select '[Google Mail]' on the IMAP server. You might try refreshing your folder list to synchronize with the IMAP server. Account: 'Gmail Account', Server: 'imap.googlemail.com', Protocol: IMAP, Server Response: 'Unknown Mailbox: [Google Mail] (Failure)', Port: 993, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCCD2 |

I think i have got it working. In windows live mail, right click on the folder called [google mail]. and on synchronisation settings, click don't synchronise. Now it wont try to update an empty folder, and hence you don't get the warning message anymore when you click send/receive! This one is the winner for me... In Windows Mail go to Tools, Accounts, select the Googlemail account, Properties, Servers. Make sure that "Log on using Secure Password Authentication" is NOT checked, but that "My server requires authentication" is checked. |

1.)Create a label in Gmail called "[Gmail]" (of course without quotes) 2.)Delete the "[Gmail]" folder from windows mail 3.)Sit back and download your email unobstructed. |

Finally, thanks so much. I did this before but forgot it. The google outage created an issue so I had to redo my accounts and this was invaluable info. So easy I almost kicked myself for not thinking of it myself. Thanks to you all, I have had this problem for a while and now it is sorted. |

| Re: Windows Mail / Gmail Folder synchronisation error
In Gmail, create a label "Google Mail" (no quotes), or rename the existing "Gmail" label (if there is one) to "Google Mail", so that you have two exactly the same corresponding folder names, one in Gmail and the other one in Windows Mail. You might also try to do it the other way round, and rename the relevant folder in Windows Mail so it has the same name as its counterpart in Gmail. |
