Windows Mail Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I am running my machine on Windows Vista and I am not able to send or receive emails on the account that I have just setup, the kind of error message that I am getting is written below:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Test Message.', Account: 'pop-server.tampabay.rr.com', Server: 'smtp-server.tampabay.rr.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you by any chance hacing Mcafee installed on your machine? If so then let me tell you that Windows Mail is not compatible with most of antivirus, specially with Mcafee and Norton antivirus. These antivirus should be removed from the computer because disabling them would also not solve this issue. After when you have uninstalled these antivirus then you can simply download and install some other compatible antivirus like Avast which also comes for free.

You can also solve this problem by going into top Toolbar which is located under Tools and then right click on your default mail and then go to properties. After that you can click on advanced and then change the Outgoing SMTP from 25 to 587 and it will start to work then. If this doesnt work then try to remove the personal certificate in Windows Mail by going into Tools > Options > Security > Digital IDs and then Personal and the highlight the name and remove it simply.
