| Import Outlook 2000 Mail into Windows Mail Having just upgraded to Vista, is there any way to import them into Windows mail? I can still export them from another machine if I need to. When I select 'Import' in Windows mail, I get "Messages cannot be imported from the MAPI client" Suggestions? |

I should have also mentioned that I have the messages in a .pst file... I'd rather not install outlook if possible... | Re: Import Outlook 2000 Mail into Windows Mail
The only way to accomplish this without installing Outlook is to use whatever machine you have that DOES have Outlook installed on it to transfer your messages and addresses from Outlook to Outlook Express, take the OE ..DBX files the transfer creates to your Vista machine, and import them. Outlook MUST be installed and functional on the machine used to do the transfer because neither Outlook Express nor Windows Mail have the ability to access a .PST file, they use Outlook for this; without Outlook, you get the MAPI error. Instructions for importing OE .DBX files into Windows Mail are here: http://www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#oe2wm How do I back up my files and settings?
