I keep receiving "An unknown error has occurred"

Message could not be displayed
Windows Mail encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this
message. Check your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again

This occurs when I go to the OUTBOX and notice NO emails are being sent.
When I try to delete the email, it will not do it.

For stuck mail in your Outbox, try:

http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/Default.aspx

NOTE: Read and follow the instructions, especially the ones in the RED outlined
box.

Hi Kat,

Read the top portion at this link and then do the section for the
folder you have the stuck message in. If it does not work for you, then
you can do the "To Reset Windows Mail" section. It will get rid of the
stuck message for you.

What do you mean by "nothing occurred"? Were the buttons
in WMUtil grayed out?
Be sure to follow the directions in the red box at
http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil

Hi Romesh,

Are you receiving any error messages? If so, can you post a copy of
it?

In the mean time, you might double check your SMTP port settings in the
Accounts server settings. (Tools>Accounts>your account>Properties) Your
email provider should have a "how to setup email" with all of the
information on their website. Something may be incorrect.

RE: I keep receiving "An unknown error has occurred"

I think I found a work-around, a little clumsy, but it works. Instead of
deleting your messages, move them to the "junk mail" folder, using edit and
move to a folder, (NOT declaring it junk) and then highlight the junk mail
folder and hit delete. It permantly removes the messages.

I was even able to move about 10 messages at a time from the deleted items
folder to junk mail and get rid of them.

I clean out my sent mail folder this morning and had about 1000 messages,
and that was all stuck...not anymore.

Has anyone tried the beta that was listed somewhere in this thread?

You're welcome.

But, all thanks should go to Steve Cochran who wrote the utility and generously
provided it for free.

Re: I keep receiving "An unknown error has occurred"

Nice! Your niece made a wise choice and will love Cal.

Is the Clear Outbox grayed out?

Make sure Windows Mail is closed. Make sure WMUtil is closed. Right click on
the Taskbar and select Task Manager. On the Processes tab. click the Show
processes from all users button. Approve UAC. Click the Image Name button to
sort by name. Find WinMail.exe. Highlight it and press the End Process button.

Open WMUtil and press the Clear Outbox button.

If this does not work out, please post back describing the problem.

Re: I keep receiving "An unknown error has occurred"

Unfortunately..still no luck. The problem is that the item in the outbox
cannot be deleted or sent...thereby causing an error message each and every
time i send any other items (which will work!). I cant move this problematic
email into the junk mail, i cant delete it and i cant send it..it just sits
there and creates the error message "an unkown error has occured". any other
ideas??? thanks.
