Re: I keep receiving "An unknown error has occurred"

You're not trying to run WMUtil from the downloaded zip folder are you?

Press the Extract all files button on the toolbar of the folder after you double
click on the downloaded zip file, and then double click on the WMUtil.exe from
the EXTRACTED folder.

Hi Lisa,

Don't worry. You probably just missed a step somewhere. Take a look
at the instructions in the "Stuck Outbox" section at this link for the
same WMUtil program to see if they might help.

There's a conspiracy of silence by pc manufacturers, internet service
providers
and the vendors of Vista non compliant antivirus software. They know the
problem exists but to acknowledge might be bad for profits.

Oh that's just lovely. But I'm surprised the problem DOES exist you'd think
they'd have enough experience and know better by now those clowns.....

Great!!!

I'm very happy you got your problem solved.

Best wishes to you and your Old Blue husband from another Old Blue in NYC, and
give my regards and best wishes to your future Cal Bear niece. I know she will
enjoy and value her experiences at Cal as much as I do.

RE: I keep receiving "An unknown error has occurred"

Windows Mail: I tried a suggestion to move the messages, which were not
displayed, to a fictitious folder, as well as moving them to the "Deleted"
folder. They just refuse to go away. Did anybody solve this problem?

Nothing like what Fergus encountered happened to me. These messages were
among messages downloaded all at the same time. They are not from one source!

Re: I keep receiving "An unknown error has occurred"

As you've discovered, Windows Mail is rather buggy.
The best solution is to upgrade to WLM:

Download and install this fix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other
folders. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version or the 64-bit
version, try the 32-bit version first. Certain common antivirus programs,
such as most of those from Norton or McAfee, or a recent one from
Trend, tend to cause such problems in Windows Mail, although seldom
immediately, so if you have such a program, remember where to find the
fix - you are likely to need it again.
