Import Windows Mail Data File into Outlook 2003

Sure could use some help on this one. I need to use Outlook 2003 as my main
default mail handler and need to import all my contacts, e mails, etc from
Windows Mail ... running Vista Home Prem. Does anyone know what the Windows
Mail data file is called and where it is located? I don't think it's a .pst
file.

Thanks!!

No, it's not a .PST, nor is it an OE .DBX. The simplest method is to
install Outlook 2003 on your Vista PC, then use WM to export the messages
and Outlook 2003 to import the addresses. If Outlook 2003 is on an XP
machine, drag all the messages out into a folder on your hard drive; they'll
all have the extension .EML. Copy these to the XP machine and drag them
into Outlook Express folders as required. From there, export messages to
Outlook from OE and import addresses from Outlook. Note that, whatever
method you elect to use, both Outlook 2003 and Outlook Express (or Windows
Mail) must be installed and functional on the machine used to do the
transfer.

I have both Windows Mail AND Outlook 2003 on the same machine. My problem is
that when I use Outlook 2003 to import the Windows Mail data / messages /
contacts, etc. Outlook 2003 looks for the FILE that Windows Mail has all this
data in. I don't know what the file name is or where it is located. Repeat
.... both Outlook and Windows Mail (Vista Home Prem) are on the same machine.
I need Outlook 2003 due to past work that requires Office 2003. I know this
sounds nutty but I must use Outlook 2003 and simply need to find the file
that Windows Mail created to contain all data related to messages, contacts,
etc.

THANKS again... if you have any additional data that woud help I'm very
appreciative.

OK, then use the Export feature of Windows Mail,
'File|Export|Messages|Microsoft Exchange'.

Actually I'm helping a friend who knows less about this than I do and although I offered to help him with Office 2007 which would have solved all the problems he wanted Office 2003 due to very old docs that 2007 will not handle. Oh well. Thanks again for the assist!! Have a great weekend! Will R.
