Socket Error 10061

I configured windows mail on newly installed Windows Vista desktop. Everything worked fine for two weeks but since yesterday it stopped receiving or sending any mail. Every time it shows me few error codes such as “socket error
10061, error number 0x800CCCoe”.

Somebody please help me out?

Whenever you get any problem with Windows mail or any pop3 email client, you should always post the complete error message to get helped because the cause of the error remains in their error code itself.

So copy paste the complete error message here.

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.threegservices.com', Server: 'mail.threegservices.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

The problem seems to be the port number “995”. I don’t think it use to be 995, just check the settings on your email provider’s official web page. I guess it should be port 110 (without SSL). Try changing this settings, it should work. Also don’t forget to disable your Antivirus while using Windows Mail.
