Cannot send mail due to SMTP server error

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server.

The rejected e-mail address was '< username>@saber.net'. Subject 'Re: For
<account>', Account: 'SaberNet', Server: 'smtp.saber.net', Protocol: SMTP,
Server Response: '550 5.7.1 Access denied', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server
Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

Try replacing your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server to a pop.

So that both incoming and outgoing are the same.

For outgoing it is SMTP and for incoming it is pop

Did you try and disable you AV email scanning option for both incoming or outgoing mail. Also do you have any anti spam for email installed. If you do then disable that also

That error message means saber.net thinks you are not allowed
to use their SMTP server, perhaps because of some spamming
violation. Contact your ISP's tech support for help.

Problem resolved: by entering smtp:comcast.net (due to using a different
location)

Becuase this machine is not connecting at it's typical location I had change
the SMTP address from Saber to Comcast.

I face the same problem. I am in Shanghai and go to see the ISP provider -
China Telecom (Shanghai) but they do not provide SMTP server name. Pls advise.

I'm totally new to the jargon. What is a pop?

Some IP's (Cox for one) block acess to smtp servers other than the cox
(IP's) outgoing mail server by blocking port 25.
On the other hand the error message makes me think that there is something
incorrect in your mail client account setup
The reference to SSL makes me a bit suspicious.
How do i do that

You would not want to do that.

If you have a problem, then copy and paste the error messages that WM gives
when you try to send or receive mail.

You wouldn't.

What is the error when you correctly enter ALL the server information you
got from your email provider?

I suggest you only pay attention to responses from the regular responders here.
You will know who they are by noticing the large number of their posts.

hello guys could you please help me how to set up the windows mail and i
don't understand.help me please..

Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Advanced,
change port 25 to port 80.
Then go the Servers tab, and enable the "My server requires
authentication" option. Click OK. Try sending.
If you get a new error message, please post it here.

AOL doesn't use the default port number 25...
these instructions for OE will work for Windows Mail...

Correct SMTP port is 465. See this link for all proper settings - you may
have other setup errors as well . . . . .

You have 3 mistakes in your settings :
1. Port # should be 465
2. My Server requires authentication must be checked
3. SSL must be checked.

See sample below :
Outgoing Server: smtp.saber.net
My server requires authentication : Yes
Logon Information "Use same settings as my incoming mail server"
Port # : 465
This server requires a secure connection (SSL) : Yes

Re: Cannot send mail due to SMTP server error

Obviously if you don't have an account on that server you can't use it.
Do you have an existing email address? If so, what is the part of
your email address after the @ symbol? That part represents your
mail service provider.
Your mail provider will typically have a web page that shows how to
set up an email program. If you need more help, tell us the name of
your email service provider. If you currently don't have an email
address, we can help with that also.
