| RE: gmail pop error code
Max, I recently upgraded to Vista and received a similar error message. Start by looking in your gmail account under: Settings/Forwarding and POP. Download the configuration instructions that are relevant for your situation, and follow the instructions to the letter. One mistype and you're screwed. This is step one. If that doesn't fix it, you may be working with an older version of MS Outlook. Outlook 2002 is NOT compatible with MS Vista. (THANKS for telling me that before I upgraded!! No notes or warnings from the upgrade advisor either!!) I then ended up calling HP to help me import all of my contacts and e-mail messages into WINDOWS Mail. If you have Outlook 2003 or later, I think you might be OK. Good luck! Look at the Properties of that account, Servers tab, make sure that "Log on using Secure Password Authentication" is not checked. | Re: gmail pop error code I've been getting a very similar message from my Windows Mail.... "Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Subject 'xxx', Account: 'My Name', Server: 'SMTP.telus.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F" No help from Telus Tech Support. I have WM configured for pop.telus.net and Port 995. Might be something else I've missed. Any thoughts? |

| Re: gmail pop error code
"pgpersons", why are you posting a TELUS issue in a thread dealing with a GMAIL issue? Please start a new post for a new issue. The problem you are seeing could be caused by your antivirus program. Windows Mail seems to be overly sensitive to corruption from antivirus programs, and is definitely incompatible with most McAfee and Norton antivirus programs. If you are using either of those latter two, it is best to uninstall and replace with a more compatible antivirus, such as the free version of Avast: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html Gary VanderMolen <pgpersons@telus.net> wrote in message news:1185357098.620937.73470@x35g2000prf.googlegroups.com... > > I've been getting a very similar message from my Windows Mail.... > > "Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Please start a new post for a new issue. Sorry. I had googled the error number and this page came up. It looked as if others were having a similar problem, albeit with a diifferent ISP. Thanks for the suggestions, anyway. Penny Persons |

| Vista/Pop3/Telus fix...
I dont know if this will work for all the providers but it sure worked with Telus... and yes the tech support was no help (sent them these instructions too after i figured it out lol)...
Should also mention - I didnt have to turn off my firewall or change any port settings, or turn on authenticate blah blah blah (see some folks suggesting this in another thread) Hope this works for you too! Last edited by SheGeek : 27-09-2007 at 06:51 AM. |
