How do I get rid of this message. All others messages delete. Mine is doing the same thing. My items go to the delete folder but wont empty after that. I cant find out anything or anyone who can help. Just 2 weeks old laptop and cant find any support to help resolve this issue. I got this same error message today when trying to delete a message from my inbox and I have my mail account setup and running fine on my laptop for 4 months now with no problems.I am running Vista Premium. I have read the posts and people are referring to anti virus but I am running AVG and do not think it is antivirus related. I just dragged the message I was having trouble deleting to my junk E-mail folder and then empied the junk folder. My message was gone and the error is no longer naging me.I hope this is the end of this because this was just too easy |

Try repairing the database with WMUtil There are two copies of WindowsMail.MSMessageStore, One in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Microsoft\Windows Mail and one in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Backup\New If you delete both of these the database will be rebuilt. However, while no messages should be lost, some may be downloaded again and you may lose some record of which have been read. I recommend that you only do this when they are causing you trouble, like when they are in the Outbox. Otherwise I now just mark them as read and ignore them. save anything you don't want to lose then try the following. It worked for me. 1) Close Winmail and check deletion on task manager (control, alt and delete) and also check it has been deleted under 'applications' and 'processes' 2) Go to START, SEARCH, ADVANCED SEARCH 3) Tick box to include non-indexed hidden and system files 4) In name field type 'windowsmail.msmessagestore' then click search button 5) Click 'Search' button 6) Delete both copies offered, leaving the shortcut copy. 7) Reopen winmail |

Close Windows Mail Click Start > Search > Advanced Search Location = Everywhere Place a check in "Include non-indexed, hidden, and system files" Name = (type) WindowsMail.MSMessageStore When completed, you should only see 2 instances Highlight, right-click and select: Delete Ok any prompts, close Search and restart WinMail how to get rid of the messages is easier to answer:- 1. Open Windows Mail 2. Go to the the Deleted items Folder. 3. Click once on any of the e-mails in that folder to highlight it. 4. Right click on the deleted folder Icon on the left of the page. 5. Click on "Empty 'Deleted Items' Folder" 6. Repeat steps 4 & 5 for each e-mail in that folder. On vista platform of course Start>Computer>Drive C or whatever the WM installed in>Programme Files>Windows Mail>Winmail At this stage main programme will open. Then right click on Local Folders (i.e. Junk Folder or Inbox or Deleted Item), then click on delete. It will delete everything those were in the folder selected. |

Unknown errors and undeletable messages in Windows Mail are often due to interference from an antivirus program. What if any antivirus programs do you have? For a temporary fix, download and install this hotfix, with Windows Mail not running: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090 Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in other folders. If you don't know whether you have a 32-bit version of Vista or a 64-bit version, try the hotfix for the 32-bit version first. This hotfix is also available as part of the Vista SP1 update, but that takes longer to install. |

I really think this may be the solution you are lookin for!!!!! I have had an email "stuck" in my inbox for about 2 months and every time I tried to delete, move it etc just to get rid of it a message appeared stating "unknown error occurred" and it would not budge. Its been buggin me all this time and FINALLY last nite I managed to sort it by: Going into your CONTROL PANEL from your desktop Click on SYSTEMS AND MAINTENANCE Then go into WINDOWS UPDATE it may take some time but I noticed that everytime "Vista Service Package 1" tried to update on previous occasions it always failed. I ran the update last nite and god it took ages!!! It took that long I fell asleep and have woke up this morning, went into my email and clicked on the horrid message in question and just pressed delete - IT WORKED!! Please try it as I am NO computer wiz but I have done something right as I now have managed to get rid of the error message FINALLY:mad: There have been loads of messages regarding this - actually came on site to find out the answer - shame you didnt think of putting it in one of your answers, in all your replies to others you never actually mention this, I actually found it out by accident and am just so pleased it is done and dusted now- only came back to site to tell others - doh!! I don't know how you could have missed it. All the regular responders here (myself included) have been publicizing the Microsoft hotfix for many months already. This will help show you how to fix the stuck undeletable email message problem in Windows Mail for all folders. Installing the KB941090 update will just fix the problem for now. You must stop the cause to prevent it from happening again. Read the section titled "FIRST" in this tutorial about antivirus and other security programs to help prevent this from happening again, then install the KB941090 Microsoft Update in the section titled "SECOND" to fix and be able to delete the stuck message from the problem folder. The options in Problem One of this tutorial below should be able to help you fix this stuck message problem in Windows Mail. The host 'IMAP' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Subject '4th of July 2009', Account: 'POP3 (1)', Server: 'IMAP', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D |

Why didn't you ask for help here earlier? Service Pack 1 includes the hotfix which has been available separately for a long time already: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941090 Although that article only mentions Outbox, it works for all mail folders. If you are unable to move or delete some messages, apply this Microsoft fix: It means you entered an invalid mail server name when you set up that mail account. Explain what you are trying to do, and we should be able to help you. What is the part of your email address after the @ symbol? First, make sure you have installed Vista's SP1 and SP2 updates. If no improvement, try dragging that unwanted email to the Deleted Items folder. If unsuccessful, try dragging it to the Recycle Bin. If the problem continues, try running the various repair functions in the WMUtil program If still no improvement, upgrade to Windows Live Mail: http://download.live.com/wlmail |

| RE: Cant Delete inbox mail
A quick and easy way to delete them without getting over your head technically is to move them to another folder and delete them there. The is what I have been doing. I guess I should install the proper fix. But, it does not happen often. |
