Cannot Send Outgoing Mail in Vista Windows Mail Personal Edition

When I go to send an outgoing mail message, it gets to the Outbox and Windows
Mail blows up there. I get the following error message: "Your server has
unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include
server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Subject
'Testing', Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'SMTP.comcast.net', Protocol:
SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number:
0x800CCC0F". I noticed there are several other people within this community
having the same problem.

Note I have deleted all mesaages from the my inbox, outbox sent items, draft
and delete items boxes. The problem still persists. Is this a bug? If so,
when will it be fixed?

change the SMTP.comcast.net to smtp.comcast.net

Se if that has any bearing on the UNIX server which is expecting lowercase.

Why delete all the messages? Doesn't do a thing except lose you mail..

You are not the only one with this dilemma. I got a new laptop with Vista
home premium on it and have the same result as you . I have not found any
solutuion yet except to rely on my yahoo and aim mailboxes for e-mail.
If anyone knows the solution to this situation.

I am having the same issues, no revolve yet.

Account: 'mail.fraservalleyptr.com', Server: 'mail.fraservalleyptr.com',
Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Login failed.', Port: 110,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

The above is what i get and then i get prompted telling me that my
username and password are not correct when they are. they are the same
settings as in my pc. it makes no sence

I just had the same problem - exactly the same. Here's how I solved it.
My PC came with Norton Protection Center installed and this is the culprit. Change the settings on outgoing email scanning. I turned off "scan outgoing mesages for suspected worms" and the problem was solved.

I have a problem i cant send my emails... I have cox my outgoing is
smtp.west.cox.net can you please help me

Go into tools, click your account, go to properties, (advance) change the outgoing to 587. This should fix your problem.!

Re: Cannot Send Outgoing Mail in Vista Windows Mail Personal Edition

I have tried for a week to figure this problem out, and can't - I do believe I found a way around it.
Vista seems to have problems relaying through 2 seperate servers, i.e. if your internet runs off one server and your email is another.
If this is the case - find out the smtp address for your internet provider and plug it in as your outgoing smtp server.

For example - my incoming pop is pop.nuvox.net
but instead of the smtp.nuvox.net i had used previously with outlook - I looked up the smtp for my internet provider which was mail.insightbb.com

I put this in for my outgoing with no authentication and it worked.

See if this works for you, if so pass it on - lots of people seem to be having this issue.

Re: Cannot Send Outgoing Mail in Vista Windows Mail Personal Editi

I applied the change to my account as noted below and still receive the pop
up message "Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible
causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period
of inactivity. Account: 'pop.east.cox.net', Server: 'pop.east.cox.net',
Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Any other suggestions?
thank you

That's a receive error, not a send error.
The error message shows the account to be configured for port 995
with SSL. The incoming server should be port 110 without SSL.

I am having a problem sending email with attachments and get the
following message:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Re: SDAR Membership
Forms', Account: 'pop.secureserver.net (1)', Server:
'smtpout.secureserver.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No,
Socket Error: 10051, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I have no clue what to do about it. I tried turning off my AV but that
didn't help.

Please post a verbatim copy of the error you get with port 80.

Thanks, Gary but it didn't work. Still getting the same message.

Now it is just one email that won't send and it's a forward to my gmail account.

Kaspersky is my AV software.

Re: Cannot Send Outgoing Mail in Vista Windows Mail Personal Edition

You need to uninstall your Anti Virus and then re-install it without the email
integration (scanning) option. Otherwise you email scanning will not turn of by just
trying to disable it

Norton or MacAfee by any chance

Please do so. I'll be surprised if Kaspersky is the problem here, but
it could be.
