I have had a similar error - but mine tells me to call Microsoft - but I
cannot find a beta support nimber for them.... Here is my error message:

Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server. There is an error
synchronizing your mail account, please call Microsoft support to resolve
this issue. Server:
'http://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v1.0.0/sync.aspx', Protocol:
HTTPMail, Port: 80, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 204, Error Number:
0x8DE00002

I would have posted seperatly, however I can only reply to posts, not create
new ones..... of course that is probably a problem with the IE7 Beta......

If you disable the Preview Pane under View/Layout, can you then delete it?

An unknown error has occurred

I opened up an email today and hit reply. While I was still typing Windows
Mail sent the message. I hit reply again and it did the same thing while I
was still typing. The first message went through, but the second one just
sits in my outbox. Tried to delete it and I got the message "An unknown
error has occurred". Read all these posts up here and none solved my
situation. Now I can't send any mail. Everything just sits in my outbox. Any
suggestions? I'm ready to go buy another Mac.

Denise, You asked no one anything at all! Re-read your own post, where you
butted into a thread, with a totally useless argument, and no questions!

"The real fact is that they are not smart enough to fix it or it would be
done. They have our money and don't care. They are waiting for one of us to
figure it out and I am sure they are reading our comments to see if we have
found a solution yet.

Re: A unknown error has occurred

You both may want to try downloading and installing the hotfix that
usually takes care of any undeletable messages. It's labelled as for
mail stuck in the Outbox, but also works in the other folders.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

It doesn't always delete such messages, but it should at least make
it possible for you to do this.

Also unknown errors in Windows Mail are often due to interference
from an antivirus program. You might want to tell us what if any
antivirus programs you have so we can tell you whether one of them
is likely to keep on occasionally causing such problems.

Re: A unknown error has occurred

Looks like you may be replying to a rather old message. Make sure
you have downloaded and installed this hotfix, with Windows Mail not
running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

If you aren't sure whether you have a 32-bit version of Vista or a 64-bit
version, try the hotfix for the 32-bit version first, and if that refuses to
install, then the hotfix for the 64-bit version also.

Re: A unknown error has occurred

Hi Rusty,

This will help show you how to fix a stuck undeletable message problem
in Windows Mail for all folders.

The KB941090 update will just fix the problem for now. You must stop
the cause to prevent it from happening again. Read the "First" section
in this tutorial about antivirus and other security programs to help
prevent this from happening again, then install the KB941090 Microsoft
Update in the "Second" section to fix the stuck message problem.

Re: A unknown error has occurred

In Windows Mail, unknown errors and undeletable messages are often due to
interference from an antivirus program. What if any antivirus programs do
you
have, and have you ever had a Norton or McAfee antivirus program on that
computer?

For a temporary fix, download and install this hotfix, with Windows Mail
not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders.

Re: A unknown error has occurred

Have you downloaded and installed this hotfix yet, with Windows Mail
not running?

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. The Vista SP1 update includes this hotfix and more,
but takes longer to install.

Re: A unknown error has occurred

To find out whether you have 32 or 64-bit Windows, click on Start,
then right-click on Computer and select Properties. The System applet
screen will appear, which has all that information.
You can also open the System applet from within Control Panel.

RE: A unknown error has occurred

To get rid of the message for good...drag it to the "Drafts" folder. Then go
to the "Drafts" folder and delete it. Before I deleted the message I opened
it and it said the message was not found. So somewhere, the message was
lost. I don't know what happened, but dragging it to the "Drafts" folder and
deleting it from there worked for me. I hope it works for you.
