I have unsent messages in my outbox. I get an error message regarding the POP3 or something like that. What could the problem be? |

| RE: Unsent messages in outbox
Did your WinMail ever send any messages at all? If not, contacting your internet service provider (ISP) is likely needed to get their account settings worked out. They are too arcane & specific to discuss here. I've spent a lot of time doing that with some installations, once it works you're good to go. If so, then as Gary replied, there are workarounds here to fix a known symptom for an issue that MS/Vista installations have where randomly a message suddenly gets stuck in a WinMail box for no apparent reason. If it is the outbox, it blocks sending more mail. You have to be a little more than novice to implement the corrective steps though. See what you can find in other threads around here. Search on "outbox" or "stuck". I think Gary is referring to not recommending the threads that talk about deleting only a certain 'MessageStor' file because there are posts pointing out trouble & no fix is experienced with that but I'm not knowledgeable enough. MS had me delete the whole WinMail email storage folder named 'Local Folder' and have the system regenerate it. So far that has not caused me any trouble & fixed my sending issue. |

when i try to delete the message in the outbox i get this messare: An unknown error has occured. (with an OK box) If i let it sit for severan seconds, a new box comes up: Deleting Message. this sits there for ever, never deleting the message. this message was sent out ok i beleave, if i go back and look at the message it says: Message could not be displayed Windows Mail encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this message. Check your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again. this is getting annoining... please help to delete this. If you used POP3 as the server name, that will happen. It's an invalid server name. Ask your email provider (who is probably also your internet provider) for their instructions for setting up to use their email servers. If they haven't written instructions for Windows Mail yet, use their instructions for Outlook Express but under Windows Mail instead. The instructions are probably somewhere on their web site. Or, you could tell us who your email provider is and see if anyone here already knows where to find the instructions. |

How did you get the problem solved? It's driving me crazy!! Patsy's problem is driving you crazy? Strange. If you are having a similar problem, please describe it in detail. 1. Start a thread for yourself. 2. Copy & Paste the error message together with your particular problem. As it is now, nobody can help you. Then, some MVPs will come to help. I have unsent messages in my outbox and want to delete them Same way you delete messages from your In-box. Open Out-box, and start deleting. Or, are you saying you are unable to do so ? Go ahead, we won't stop you. The problem is that many people respond to threads instead of creating new threads. That is the cause, or partial cause of the recent activity in this thread. Back in 2007, I had this issue and I am intrigued that this post has gone on for more than two years. I also noticed that you were part of the discussion in 2007. As such I have since solved my problems with this and I wonder if there is a way that you can get the word out in broadcasting way. Someone suggested that I set up a gmail account. I did so just for this and use that as my smtp for outgoing mail. My regular ISP is my incoming account. For the most part I have had no trouble. Occasionally I see things getting stuck, but that may be more a function of my computer itself, which is six years old. Because the outgoing emails are really coming out of gmail, they will stay in the sent box in gmail, as well as in my Outlook sent box. I go in every now and then and clean out the gmail outbox, since I already have them saved in outlook. i have problem to send message cause i was using pops pls i need same one to help me The e-mail address must be wrong. The host 'SMTP' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Subject 'New Publication', Account: 'pop3', Server: 'SMTP', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D How do I fix this? |

unsent in outbox?? do whatever you want to do with them . Even to delete them. Nobody is stopping you from doing it this did not say what to do about the problem,or how to delete the messages,it is very agravating seeing this info and no way to resolve it. Some instruction would be helpful Does anyone know how to delete outgoing messages that are unsent? Open the Outbox and delete them. I have Vista and cannot send pix from my e-mail. I can delete the stuck message but need to know how to download and install a new program that works. The relevant instruction for you is to create a new thread (discussion or whatever) describing your problem, including relevant details. The message you replied to is a reply to a very old message. I don't see the original message. Note that the replies are just text from the message being replied to; there is nothing in the messages except the previous text. From my experience, there is a bug in Windows Mail that causes phantom replies such as that. in other words, whoever posted the replies was not even aware of doing that. Your criticisms won't accomplish a thing; nothing. If you want help, describe your problem in a thread you create. Do you get an error message when you try to send? If so, right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here. We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message. How old are you, around 7 or 8 I guess? These instructions for Outlook Express will also work for Windows Mail... Yes, it is called Windows Live Mail, and you can download it here: http://download.live.com/wlmail It is still not working? This thread is from March, 18, 2007 and was removed from MSNews NNTP servers in June, 2007. If you are serious about getting help, please start your own new thread. Do not hijack an old and defunct thread. Start by getting Vista SP1 installed. If you would like some custom help, right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here. We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message. |

| Re: Unsent messages in outbox
Do you have an existing email address? If so, what is the part of your email address after the @ symbol? That part represents your mail service provider. Your mail provider will typically have a web page that shows how to set up an email program. If you need more help, tell us the name of your email service provider. If you currently don't have an email address, we can help with that also. |
