WMUtil -- New Free utility to compact and repair the Windows Mail database in Windows Vista

This is a new little utility that will let you manually compact and repair the Windows Mail database on your own to fix some of the common problems that seem to be arising.

It automatically detects the database location (although you can change that) and then allows you to either compact or repair the Windows Mail database. Neither of these functions will affect the messages, as they are not part of the database itself.

Compaction of the database needs to occur to maintain performance and remove wasted space. WinMail does not have a feature to do this manually, so this will permit the user to manually compact the database.

Do not perform the repair operation unless you are having problems, as it could result in database (not message) information loss.

These functions are only available if Windows Mail is closed and no other WinMail processes are running.
