Can't Import .pst file into Windows Mail

I am running Windows Vista and am not able to import my contacts that are usually in the .pst file format in Windows Mail. I can easily import a .wab file but cannot import the .pst file. Is there any ways to import the pst files? Thanks for any suggestions in advance.

Incase if you dont have Outlook installed on your system then it wont be possible to import or even do anything with the PST file and it will be just a collection of unusable files on your computer. Once you have installed Outlook then you can try to open the PST file in Outlook and then you will be able to import or export from that open instance of Outlook into Windows Mail. Hope this helps.

I thin that the shortcut for Outlook Express is hidden if Outlook is the default program. So you can go to "c:\program files\outlook express\msimn.exe" and click on that or copy and paste it into the Start >> Search bar with the quotes and then Outlook Express will open. After that you can use File >> Import from outlook and then transfer the dbx files to any other computer and then import with Windows Mail.
