Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail Send/Receive Problem

I was using Vista Mail on my Vista Home Premium X64 machine for several
weeks. The computer is less than a month old. Yesterday I uninstalled
McAfee, which had the SPAM filter thing auto installed in Windows Mail.
Now I can no longer send or receive e-mail in Windows Mail. This is the
error I receive:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes
for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'pop.bizmail.yahoo.com', Server:
'pop.bizmail.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes,
Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

After removing McAfee via Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs, I've
followed the advice in other threads and downloaded the MCPR.exe McAfee
removal tool and that hasn't changed things. I've tried running the
McAfee tool several times and that hasn't changed things either (the
McAfee removal tool indicated it was successful and that I would need to
reboot, which I did). I tried deleting the account and adding it again.
I tried setting up a new account in Windows Live Mail (which came
installed on my computer) and I have the same error in Windows Live
Mail:

Unable to send or receive messages for the plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
account. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection.
Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a
long period of inactivity.

Server: 'pop.bizmail.yahoo.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F
Protocol: POP3
Port: 995
Secure(SSL): Yes

I never used Windows Live Mail before until today when I tried it as an
alternative to Windows Mail. I do have Thunderbird installed and I can
send/receive e-mail fine from that without any problems. Please help.

See http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/att/small...op/pop-33.html and

the OE page for WinMail & Wal-Mail)

[Add/Remove Programs, in Vista?]

Why did you uninstall your anti-virus application when you only needed to
disable its email scanning component?! What AV app is installed now?

Did the McAfee application come preinstalled on the computer when you bought
it? How about a Norton application?

Re: Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail Send/Receive Problem

The error messages don't reveal any incorrect settings.

Besides McAfee which you have uninstalled, are you running any
other third party security software, such as a firewall?

To narrow down the nature of this problem, try installing a different mail
account. If you currently don't have a Gmail account, apply for one here:
http://mail.google.com
Then enable your Gmail account for POP:

Then set up that Gmail account in Windows Mail:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/a...y?answer=86383

Let us know if that works.
