| Can not get verizon email account to work with windows vista mail
I get this error message Account: 'Home', Server: 'incoming.verizon.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH] Authentication failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92 I know windows mail works because I had another email account (AOL) set up and it worked fine. However, when I deleted that account from windows mail and tried to get the verizon one to work i get asked my sign-on and password several times and then i get the error message above. |

| Re: HAVE TO SCROLL FOR EMAIL ADDRESSES
The auto-complete in Windows Mail just doesn't work correctly. It keeps a separate list of the last 29 addresses you've typed in, including bad ones. This list is kept in the registry (in binary). Just click on the To: button, and select your recipient. This is one of the features that works properly in the newer Windows Live Mail. -- Windows 7 RC http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview http://download.live.com/wlmail "Roger Connor" <RMCAMERICAN@COX.NET> wrote in message news:#7oGoXQ1JHA.3988@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > WHEN I SEND AN EMAIL, I HAVE TO SCROLL THRU MY ADDRESS BOOK TILL I FIND > THE ADDRESS. Please do not hijack other's thread particularly you do not have the same problem/question as the original OP. | Re: Can not get verizon email account to work with windows vista mail
If you are sure you are you are entering the correct username and password, one possible cause for that error is account corruption. One thing you should try as a quick fix is to delete that corrupted mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that account. If that doesn't fix it, more drastic measures will have to be taken. Which antivirus are you running? As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off, although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects. In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled. If turning off the email scanning function does not resolve your problem, consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects from overly aggressive antivirus programs. http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons explained here: http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Nichole" <Nichole@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:DB9CB569-8AE1-461F-B7DA-D5939D83F083@microsoft.com... >I get this error message > > Account: 'Home', Server: 'incoming.verizon.net', Protocol: POP3, Server > Response: '-ERR [AUTH] Authentication failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, > Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92 > > I know windows mail works because I had another email account (AOL) set up > and it worked fine. > > However, when I deleted that account from windows mail and tried to get the > verizon one to work i get asked my sign-on and password several times and > then i get the error message above. |
