| att.yahoo on windows mail e-mail client
I was using bellsouth.net to get my e-mail and they "upgraded" my to att.yahoo. I put in all the setting they said to put in and I am still getting the following error message when I try to access my mail through windows mail: Account: 'pop.att.yahoo.com', Server: 'pop.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR popgate unknown command', Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18 Thanks for any help |

Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It provides no additional protection and it may be causing the error (assuming the account's correctly configured in Windows Mail). Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Jeff Eilders wrote: > I was using bellsouth.net to get my e-mail and they "upgraded" my to > att.yahoo. Go to Tools, Accounts, select that mail account, Properties, Servers. Uncheck the box for "Log on using Secure Password Authentication." -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Jeff Eilders" <eilders@bellsouth.net> wrote in message news:62AC2A35-F350-49C9-92AC-D68F9A45AE2B@microsoft.com... >I was using bellsouth.net to get my e-mail and they "upgraded" my to att.yahoo. | Re: att.yahoo on windows mail e-mail client I have same problem on Live Mail and I do not have that SPA option checked. Another machine in the same house has no issues with ATT email with all same settings except it runs on XP. Any other ideas? | Re: att.yahoo on windows mail e-mail client Can anyone explain the fix listed in this thread 'Oncare blocks Outlook SSL error 0x800CCC0F on ATT Yahoo : Windows Live OneCare Firewall : Windows Live OneCare : Microsoft Forums' (http://social.microsoft.com/forums/e...-21567671a1de/) ? I'm not sure what it's saying or doing. -- pretzelb |

Do you get an error message? If so, right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here. We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "pretzelb" <guest@unknown-email.com> wrote in message news:52b78a00d9b56892279c9ff2b1842b52@nntp-gateway.com... > > I have same problem on Live Mail and I do not have that SPA option > checked. We will be able to evaluate the applicability of that fix once we see your complete error message. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "pretzelb" <guest@unknown-email.com> wrote in message news:3573bc13906c9505d4b0c5ba07e0e721@nntp-gateway.com... > > Can anyone explain the fix listed in this thread 'Oncare blocks Outlook > SSL error 0x800CCC0F on ATT Yahoo : Windows Live OneCare Firewall : > Windows Live OneCare : Microsoft Forums' > (http://social.microsoft.com/forums/e...-21567671a1de/) > ? > > I'm not sure what it's saying or doing. > > > -- > pretzelb |

That's not good enough. I need to see the complete, verbatim error message. Note: It is customary here to quote the message one is replying to. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "pretzelb" <guest@unknown-email.com> wrote in message news:da999c793427c92bfa9bb777ebae001a@nntp-gateway.com... > > Same as the error message from the OP. > > > -- > pretzelb |

| Re: att.yahoo on windows mail e-mail client
Folks none of those will work. ATT is updating server mail programming. The temp fix is to logg in via your web mail account and then your email client will download just fine. Folks using the att software where it dials up and loggs you in will not have this issue.. many of us that are not using the AT&T software because we are on routers, or various other reasons will have this issue till the programmers change it on the servers. |
