Can't add hotmail to Windows Live Mail

I am unable to get my hotmail address to work with Windows Live Mail.
When I go to set up a new account, it puts a button up to download
folders, etc.

When I click on this I get an error with the following details.

Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail (xxx) account.
Sorry, we were unable to sign you in to Windows Live ID at this time.
Please try again later.
Server Error: 0x80048820
Server: 'http://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x80048820

xxx=my email address... just protecting myself.

I went to hotmail and cleared out the inbox, outbox, junk box, sent
box, and draft box after receiving the message the first time, but there
is no change.

I really could use the help. I am currently getting ready to go back
to school next week, and having browser email would be helpful

Which version of Windows Live Mail(click on Help/About)

If the Hotmail server is not having problems..the usual suggestions

Close WLM
Ensure pc date and time are correct
Delete all live, hotmail, and msn.com cookies
If present disable third party firewall, enable Windows Firewall
Open WLM
Remove the account in WLM
Recreate new with your full username and domain(e.g. JohnDoe@hotmail.com). If your account is a live.com or msn.com use that
domain instead of hotmail.com), ensure the correct password is entered and the box checked to remember the pw.
Retest

Thank you Winston. I have been having this problem with Windows Live Mail and
AIM. Neither would sign in. I would have never thought to check the date
(since my time was right), and sure enough the calendar had been set back 3
years for some reason. As soon as I fixed the date, both signed in with no
problem.

there is no answer to the question? the web visit not obtainable? i have
outlook i could not set it up and outlook changed to windows mail did not
help me i have hotmail.com and am able to use it i have windows office
professional and can not use the default mail system there should be a
help to setup the outlook /windowsmail in office professional without going
to a forum where i do not know someones competence WHY CAN'T WINDOWS HELP ME
SET IT UP YOU MADE IT ? I AM JUST USING THIS LISTING JUST TO CONTACT YOU ?
