You need to change your server configuration.

Tools > Accounts > Select your email > Click "Properties" > Go to "Servers" tab

Change IMAP/POP3/HTTP server to "imap.aol.com"
Change SMTP server to "smtp.aol.com"

Click "My server requires authentication"
Click "Advanced" tab

Change SMTP port to "587"
Click Apply, and then OK

Should work after that.

IMAP shows port 143 - outbound server STMP changed to 587. Do I need to reboot? Email still not being sent.

Are you sure that you have it set up as an IMAP, not POP3? AOL requires IMAP instead.

Re: Windows Vista Mail AOL Server

OK, I deleted the only account showing in my Windows Mail "accounts". Selected IMAP as the Server type and put the following info in.

It automatically gives me an error that the server is not a valid or recognized server - do I want to continue? I say yes, then get the below error:

[Window Title]
Windows Mail

[Main Instruction]
The host 'IMAP@AOL.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.

[Content]
Your IMAP command could not be sent to the server, due to non-network errors. This could, for example, indicate a lack of memory on your system.

[Expanded Information]
Configuration:

Account: IMAP@AOL.com
Server: IMAP@AOL.com
User name: Jonezinor
Protocol: IMAP
Port: 143
Secure(SSL): 0
Code: 800ccc0d

You are getting this error because the server format is incorrect. You have it as an email. The
server needs to be "imap.aol.com", not imap@aol.com.
