| Re: Setting up E mail account
Well so you are using mediacom as your ISP. I would suggest to setup your account in accordance with the following, the settings for Outlook Express, are exactly the same for Windows Mail: http://www.mchsi.com/help/read/publi.../2002-01-28.01 When you switch off your Mediacom Online Network you can still access your email account using email client. I would suggest you to configure your email program to connect to secure email server via SSL. Please use the instruction here for most popular email programs like Microsoft Outlook Express, Netscape Communicator, Microsoft Outlook, and Qualcomm Eudora. NOTE: If you are using firewall in your PC, you will not be able to download and read your email via SSL. Firewall will not allow traffic on the ports required by SSL. Configuring Outlook Express 5.0 and Higher Launch Microsoft Windows Mail. Go to Tools Menu Choose Accounts. Select Mail Tab. Select the mail account to configure, and then choose the Properties button. Select the Servers tab. In the Incoming mail (POP3) field, type mail.mchsi.com In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) field, type mail.mchsi.com In the Account name field, enter your email address which is everything before the @ sign of your email addres. In the Password field, enter your e-mail password. Note: The password will not be visible as you type it. Check a checkmark box beside the My server requires authentication option. Choose the Settings button. Select the "Log on using" option. In the Account name field, enter your Mediacom Online e-mail address. In the Password field, enter your e-mail password. Note: The password will not be visible as you type it. Check a checkmark box beside the Remember password option. Click the OK button. You will return to the Properties window. Select the Advanced tab. The Outgoing mail (SMTP) port number should be changed to 465. Place a checkmark beside, "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)". The Incoming mail (POP3) port number should be set to 995. Place a checkmark beside, "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)". Choose the Apply button, choose the OK button, and then choose the Close button. |

I think you are getting this information from your ISP, call up their tech support and inform them regarding the problem which you are facing and ask Windows Mail Setup information. |
