| URL Links not opening in windows live mail
Hi All I cannot open any URL links in windows live mail. My operating system is Vista Home Edition. Default mail account is Windows Live Mail. Browser is IE7. Every time I try to open any URL link in windows live mail I get this message "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Assosiations control panel." I had exactly the same problem using Windows Mail so I upgraded to Windows Live Mail. I have tried going to control panel - programs - default programs - set default programs. but internet explorer is not in my default programs list. I have tried going to control panel - internet options - programs - set IE7 as default browser and press ok but every time I return IE7 is not my default browser. I am not aware of any other browsers on my system. |

| Re: URL Links not opening in windows live mail
Try this: The following procedure will rewrite the default protocol assignments in the registry: Open the Default Programs applet, then click on "Set program access and computer defaults." Expand the Custom selection, and under "Choose a default web browser" select Internet Explorer. Click OK. If that does not fix it, better ask for help in an IE newsgroup. |

Have tried that Gary. When I change to my defaults to IE and Windows Live Mail in this section they always revert back to "use my current web browser and use my current e-mail programme". I will try in a IE newsgroup Thanks |

It is normal for that setting to revert. It is meant only for changing one's default assignment. P.S. For continuity, please quote the message you are replying to. |
