Re: importing contacts from outlook into windows mail?

Export the Outlook contacts to CSV, and import that into Windows Mail.

For the calendar, there's a way..... but it's not easy.
Windows Calendar can only import .ics (not .csv or .pst)
Outlook can't export .ics

Here's what I did....
In Outlook 2003, export to a CSV file.
Went to my calendar on Gmail.com
import the CSV file to Google calendar
export to .ics file (had to use help for these two steps, as it's not
straightforward)

Windows Calendar:
import the .ics file

But why not use Outlook on Vista? Version 2003 works fine.

Re: importing contacts from outlook into windows mail?

Well I tried that & since I don't have the Office Premium (I misspoke - I
have office 2000, not 2003), the import/export engine will not start. Is
there somewhere that I can just get that or a workaround?

Well I hadn't thought of loading Outlook 2003 on Vista laptop...will it
interfere or cause problems with Office 2007 programs? (outlook didn't come
with the office package loaded)

Windows mail seems to function just as well so far, the only thing I'm not
sure about that would make a difference for me is whether or not I can do
merged emails with Word 2007 using Windows Mail as the email "sender"...

Thanks for your help....

Re: importing contacts from outlook into windows mail?

Assuming that you have Outlook on an XP computer, you can import the
contacts into Outlook Express, save the address book (.wab), and import that
into Windows Mail.

I assume that Outlook 2003 would work with Office 2007, but I don't know for
sure since I don't have 2007.

Windows Mail will not work with Word to do mail merges, you need Outlook for
that.

The easiest way to do this is to use synchronization software, there are many out there but the only one i have found that does emails, files and favorites is Dmailer sync.

Synchronzie all your email data (including calendar) from Outlook, Outlook Express or Windows Mail and your files and favorites then save it to a memory stick. Then you can restore your data to the new pc you can also transfer you email to either Outlook, Outlook Express or Windows Mail. And you ie favorites to Firefox or visa versa.

Using this software will not cost you because you can do this within the free 30 day trial period.

You can download it from:
www.dmailer.com
