cant view inbox or receive email

I have received emails about 5 minutes ago and have read them. i have now
received new emails but windows mail will not show the inbox saying"windows
mail could not open this folder-possible causes are low disk space or low
memory" in the right hand lower pane where selected emails are displayed. I
still have 9 unread emails( there is 56 in the folder) and cannot view them.I
have 2Gb of ram with 64Gb of hard drive space left on computer
As well as this problem i cannot download emails- An unknown error has
occurred. Account: 'sidntabs@bigpond.com', Server: 'mail.bigpond.com',
Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x80004005.
can some please help as vista is drivin me nuts

Re: cant view inbox or receive email

"Unknown error" is almost always related to your antivirus.
Which antivirus are you running? Some of them are not fully compatible
with Windows Mail. As a minimum, you must disable any email scanning
in your antivirus. If that is not sufficient, you may need to uninstall any third
party security software that is interfering with Windows Mail.

If turning off the email scanning function does not resolve your problem,
consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to
suffering bad effects from overly aggressive antivirus programs.

In any case, email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for
reasons explained here:

Re: cant view inbox or receive email

Comcast made some changes in their email settings without telling
their customers. Follow these steps, beginning with step 10:

Note that the SMTP server now uses port 587 rather than 25.

Which antivirus are you running?

Have you tried the first step, which is to go into the settings of your
antivirus and disable its email scanning?
