I get this message when I try to get my Gmail account in Window's Mail.
Can anyone help? I've tried different settings, but nothing seems to
help. Please write at asimovtrek@gmail.com because I'm not really on
here too often!

Gmail uses port 995, not 993

You need to decide if you want a POP3 or IMAP account
because right now your settings are a mish-mash between those
two protocols.

Well, I fixed part of the problem! Now I'm able to receive mail, but
not send it. I still get an error when I try. Please tell me what I
need to change! Remember, asimovtrek@gmail.com since I'm not on here
toooften! It does say connected, but nothing happens!

Here is the error:

-Subject 'test', Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'pop.gmail.com',
Protocol: SMTP, Port: 465, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19-

I'm sorry to be a pain, but for some reason everything I try doesn't
work and I would appreciate any help I could get. I'm in China, so
email is my life-line!

Gmail requires you to use the SSL option for both sending
and receiving. You don't have the SSL option enabled for sending.
Also, the outgoing (SMTP) server is called smtp.gmail.com, not
pop.gmail.com.
You had better review all your Gmail account settings to make
sure you have followed their specifications:

Incidentally, most of the regular responders here do not provide
help via private email, since that is contrary to the newsgroup
philosophy.
