MAPI error trying to import .pst into Windows Mail

I am trying to import messages from Outlook to Mail. I have Outlook
installed. I am running Vista. I am able to export my message from Outlook
just fine. I do not have access to my pc with XP on it any longer (it's
dead). Win.ini states that Mapi=1. I originally had Outlook 2002 installed
and thought that could be the problem with MAPI so I downloaded the 2007
trial. It is working just fine, but I don't want to buy it.

When I try to import Outlook messages from Mail, I get as far as selecting
Import, Messages, Microsoft Outlook as soon as I click next it gives me the
MAPI message that is either isn't installed or a error occured while
initializing it.

Any idea?

In my opinion, the trouble with the Mohave Experiment is that they didn't
actually have to install anything or get anything to work on those Vista
systems they were evaluating.

I have already exported my messages to a .pst file. Mial won't let me import
it. I don't even get to select the file.
