Message #5 on the server is probably corrupt. Go to the webmail site, log on, and delete it. https://webmail.twcny.rr.com/ -- Vista Home Premium 32 SP1 http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview "cpierce26" <cpierce26@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:E455A9BC-D48E-4EB9-AB14-4F882104AFEE@microsoft.com... > This is the message that I am getting: > > Message number 5 could not be retrieved. That's because you have a 'stuck' email on the server, which is not allowing the total download to complete. When a download doesn't complete, the server doesn't delete any downloaded messages. On subsequent downloads, the same message(s) will download. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "cpierce26" <cpierce26@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:DAE40489-F6BF-426C-93A9-6D880089463B@microsoft.com... > Hi, > I have a big problem, incoming email won't stop from the same sender(email > notifications etc,)...and will not let regular email come in... > > Please help > -- > cpierce26 |

In your browser go to http://webmail.twcny.rr.com and delete the 5 oldest messages. Then try Windows mail again. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "cpierce26" <cpierce26@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F6F2FBBC-792A-4317-9AC8-57540EF1F7F5@microsoft.com... > Message number 5 could not be retrieved. I have had the same problem for months. Isn't there a more permanent fix other than having to delete the messages? The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider. The rejected e-mail address was 'rpv7@sbcglobal.net'. Also exclude EML files from the scan. It provides no protection not provided by the regular resident protection. Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's anti-virus seems to be causing problems too. -- Frank Saunders MS-MVP IE,OE/WM Do not reply with email |

It remains to be seen if you have the exact same problem. Right-click on the error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here. We can't do much troubleshooting without that complete error message. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "jaws" <jaws@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:49C5AA82-DE58-47B7-8F64-DCEDA5DAA33C@microsoft.com... >I have had the same problem for months. Make sure you have send authentication enabled. Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers. The box for "My server requires authentication must be checked. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "Richard Vaughn" <rpv7@sbcglobal.net> wrote in message news:uUGE9irBJHA.1012@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > > i moved from outbox to draft but it is the same. i get the following > messages it was working at one time and then quite plze help thanks > Richard > > The message could not be sent.
