Oblivion is jerky on Vista

I just put togther a new computer on the weekend and Oblivion is performing
poorly

I have the following
E6700
8800 GTX
2GB RAM

I have exited the sewers at the begining of the game and croseed the water.
I then left the game until the view starts to rotate around the character

I would expect the view to move smooth and seemless around the character
like in Windows XP. Instead the view is jerky and terrible. According to
Oblivion it is fairly consitant at 42fps

I expected Oblivion to play slower on Vista then XP but this is unplayable.

Since I am getting 42fps I dont think it would be the NVidia Drivers

Is there anything that can be done to make this playable?

Thank you

only thing i can do to keep it from being jurky is turn grass all the
way off...

the game run 100% fine in XP, when it starts jurking in vista the HDD
light is not coming on at all...

i think its something up with drivers or vista... i have all new
drivers and trust me im no noob on my PC... its not about FPS, FPS is
fine its about this stupid jurky crap if it's doing this crap to me
then its doing it to alot of people.

oh and what was said from the vistagamefourm I THINK IS BS...

first of all you say you tested the game on vista.. what drivers? what
cpu? ram? video card?.. how much did you test? did you turn every
thing up as high as it can go? because i tell you!!! iv seen videos of
it on youtube played by people with vista and it does the same thing,
with high setings.. and in SLI mode with 2 8800gt cards it goes slower
then one...

OMFG, 42fps, well boohoo.

I wish my 7800 could spit out that many fps. Try deleting your Oblivion .ini
files re-run the game with default settings.

First time I played on my new vista system I copied over my old settings
from XP it crashed, ran like crap, etc. Restarted after removing the INIs
from Documents\My Games\Oblivion (Leave the Saves folder alone) and the
problems went away.

Sorry for the boohoo comment, but at least I gave you a suggestion other
than what VGR Admin and VGR Scotty posted, and I quote, "[snide comment
followed by rude euendo], My game runs great, get the beta drivers,
[derogatory comment]!"

If you're feeling down, install Morrowind, better game.

OR, instead of forcing him to go to your website you could give him the
"gist" of the solution and say, hey check out my site if that doesn't work
for you.

Glad your website is doing so well, but I think you should apologize, your
post was not that useful, and it was basically an advert for your site. I'm
pretty sure he did read your post.

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT
2 GIGS RAM
Vista Home Premium

Oblivion runs great on my computer. I turned everything to the max except
music. I don't like the music in any of these games but the other sound
effects were fine. I didn't notice any jerkiness. I added Knights of the
Nine and Shivering Isles also with no problems.

I recall posts from a few weeks ago dealing with this subject - it
would seem that changing the values of some of the parameters
within the 'oblivion.ini' file will cure the problem. I'm sorry but
have no exact info. Try searching forums specific to Oblivion.
