SP3 endless bootup on an Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe mainboard, possible

After the SP3 download on the Home Edtion XP, nothing would get me into
windows, safe mode, etc., nothing. I saw referance about inserting a flash
drive, so I did and it booted. In reading the comments from other users on
"Jesper's Blog", I saw one from Astout about moving the mouse from a PS2 slot
to the USB and booting and then moving it back to the PS2 and all was well.
Although he reported the flash drive fix didn't get him into XP. My mouse was
in a USB port and I moved it to a PS2, it works. I tried moving it back to
the USB and get the endless reboot problem again. Hope this might help
someone.
