| RE: Updated driver: IDT Hi Def Audio CODEC: Disabled my Audio device !
I have the same problem, and agree...why the hell offer a download that doesn't work. Yeesh. Anyway, I'm maybe not as handy with a computer as you. I treid to follow your path: CP - system - device manager (is that what you meant by "device handler?")...but then the langauge deviates even further from what you wrote...I need literal instructions! Please. In device manager there are "sound, video and game controllers." is that what you mean by "sound device"? And how do "roll the previous driver version back"? I would love to...but it ain't bvious to me how. I curse and spit onthis optional download. Never again. Lost your audio with the Dell IDT codec update? - THE OFFICIAL BLOG OF THE SBS "DIVA": http://msmvps.com/blogs/bradley/arch...ec-update.aspx Does that help? Dear Nermo: I had the exact same experience. It has been very frustrating and I thought I did something wrong! It is so good to see your post. I never download the 'optional' updates, but on 4/30, I saw the audio update and thought, well, why not, perhaps it will work better. Now it does not work at all. I have tried reinstalling, restoring, using my original CD. Please keep me posted and I will do the same for you if we find a solution. I have a contact at work and will take the computer to him tomorrow if I do not find an answer today.
