Vista SP1 error code 80073712 at 13%

I've been trying to install the SP1 for Vista and continually get the
80073712 error code at ~13%. I've tried to download and install the
standalone and it fails as well during install.

Installed fine on another computer, but this one just doesn't want to work:

Vista 32-bit home premium (upgrade)
intel core duo 2 2.4
4 gig ram
nvidia 8800 GTX

Any help or fixes would be appreciated!

Tried the http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821 update, but i'm on a 32-bit.

and the new Windows Update Agent didn't fix the issue either.

still the same error code when i try to install the sp1 (via windows update

on how to install.

Otherwise - Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (All Languages)
Unlimited installation and compatibility support is available at no charge until March 18,
2009.

i got the 947821 fix installed (thanx). but after the install, i rebooted,
and tried installing sp1 again via windows update and the standalone. still
failed on both at the same point(s).

found and tried as many "fixes" on the web as possible and still no luck
unfortunately.

tried everything but its still failing.
