can't install NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1

My computer keeps trying to install NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 and it
fails.
This is first time an update has failed. with error 0x634. Everyday it tries
to load this automatically. How can I stop this cycle. Either load it or
stop trying to load it.

The short answer is you likely need to uninstall and reinstall it. Further
the probability is you need to do this with 'net 1.1' as well. To uninstall
you need to follow very strictly the guidance found by 'Googling'.
Sometimes 'net' can be repaired but my experience suggest it is generally
the quickest option to uninstall and reinstall.

Why net Framework seems so prone to damage I would very much like to know.
It is almost invariable that each time it is updated I need to uninstall and
reinstall to be able to install the updates. It is very tiresome!
