83 Updates downloaded, 83 failed to install

Hi,
I did a repair installation of XP Home using a slipstreamed disk with
SP2 on it. The first time I went to Windows Update I had to install
the Windows Installer 3v2. I finally got this done by changing
permissions in the registry per a MS bulletin. When I went back to
Windows Update 83 Updates were downloaded and all failed to install.
The failures to install do not appear in the Update History. The other
entry in the history is the failure to install the Windows Installer.

I am now at a loss as to how to get the 83 updates installed.

Thank you so very much I. M. C. Registering the wups2.dll was all that
was needed for the updates to install. Happiness is a registered DLL.

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP
installation:
