    Windows version?

What update are you attempting to install? Are you attempting to install it
manually, using a file you've downloaded?

Does Automatic Updates or Windows Update website offer you the update?

    Multilingual User Interface

MUI is a Microsoft Windows package from Microsoft that allows each user to
select the Windows language. A similar tool is available from Microsoft for
    Microsoft Office.

Functionally, Microsoft MUIs perform the same task as localized versions of
Windows and Office. File and folder names are translated in localized
versions, but not in the MUIs. For example, while a localized version of
Windows or Office would translate the folder names (Spanish Inicio instead of
Windows Start) and are coded using the language, MUIs translate menus and
dialogs only. That is, MUIs do not contain translated registry entries, but
localized versions do. This is useful if the user wishes to run a program
that requires the English version of Windows, while having his Windows in
    another language.

Thanks for the explanation. My language is set to English. I don't recall
if MUI was an option, but I did not add anything else to the software, when I
purchased the laptop with Windows Vista preinstalled.

Are you attempting to install 925902 manually, using a file you've

[If you are, the error suggests that you downloaded and are attempting to
install the wrong file version for your machine. The installation file for
    Vista x86 is named Windows6.0-KB925902-x86.msu.]

Re: windows update failed error code 80073715

I had received automatic updates that I tried to install and it failed.
Later, upon recommendations of tech support, I went to Microsoft website,
found the KB925902 update, saved it to my desktop and tried it manually and
    still it does not work.
After about 6 hours in total with PC Safety and later with Vista help
center, I was told that because my laptop already has another security update
that was pre-installed just before I received my machine, I should ignore
this failure notice. They claimed my machine is safe with another KB....
security update that seems to have been installed.
Everytime I turn on my laptop, I get the message that a new security update
has been received and I should install it. It is the same KB925902 which
    keeps on failing.

    Uh-huh...

    I assume you're NOT running Vista x64: Unless you're running user32.dll and
win32k.sys v6.0.6000.16438, v6.0.6000.20537 or higher, the tech with whom
you spoke is full of it.

    Try this:

    1. Create this folder: C:\Downloads

    2. Download 925902 from this link only:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...F-0B062CFCDEEC

    3. Save the download to C:\Downloads <=this folder.

    4. Copy (CTRL+C) the following line to your clipboard, exactly as you see it
(including the quotation marks and space):

    "C:\Downloads\Windows6.0-KB925902-x86.msu" /o

    5. Start > Run > now paste (CTRL+V) the contents of your clipboard into the
    box > [OK]

    6. Reboot.

Assuming all went well, now see if Windows Update website is still offering
    you 925902.
