Error 80070005 - is an access denied error, usually relating to a permissions problem.
As I don't know much about Vista, I don't have any suggestions.

Possible root cause for Error Code 80070005 during Vista Ultimate Update

    All

While installing Vista Ultimate today the first time I also faced that Error Code 80070005. Figuring around that issue I found the following facts:

    - the Error Code appears only when you want to install the update "BitLocker and EFS Enhacements" together with all the other (optional) updates.
    - if you install all other updates, except the one described above, there are no problems
    - installing the "BitLocker and EFS Enhacements" update alone, I got the Error Code 80070643. This code is related to the "Office Source Engine". See related failure description!
    - The "Office Source Engine" is only available after installing MS Office. But following up the steps in the failure description of Error Code 80070643 didn´t solve the problem! :(
    - after that I tried to have a look into the "BitLocker Drive Encryption" settings (see Device Manager), the related feature for that update. As a short summary: This feature is still not activated on my PC. Therefore I would have to re-partition my drive "according to BitLocker requirements" (???) and also will need a BitLOcker compatible Bios (???). For the reason that I don´t see a need right now to use that "BitLocker" feature I will not change anything on my machine...

My assumption: Maybe you only get downloaded the "BitLocker and EFS Enhacements" update when this feature is activated on your PC.

My solution: Hide that update for this feature if you don´t use... and you shouldn´t get more the Error Code 80070005!

Any other solutions would also be very welcome!

Last but not least... sorry for my English, it´s not my native language.

    Regards Herbert
