RE: Windows Update failed Error Code: 80072EFD

Guys, hello there, you are fantastic!

The only thing is that I do not understand a thing you are saying: is there
anyone who can put me in writing the light versions of what you are saying
about the error code 80072EFD, in order to update with the Microsoft Security
    Software?

GK wrote: Using command prompt (I have not even slightest idea what does it
mean: I believe there are some other people too, who think that it is so
complicated, sophisticated and above my head, that I would not even bother
myself to write anything to them, ...but I will). Is there anyone who dear to
answer me, as for simple cusiousity to teach us.

    And this:
    1. proxycfg -d (to clear proxy cache)
    2. net stop wuauserv (to stop Automatic updates service)
what does this mean in simplified representation: where do i have to click?
Deskilling the path for me, please!

I do not even know, how to delete all files and folders in Windows Explorer,
I cannot find C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution (your windows folder may vary,
    but still).

    And "Again using command prompt
    4. net start wuauserv (to start Automatic updates service)
and I do not know how.

Could anybody write it down in plain language, what should I do and where do
I click next? I surely do appreciate the prompt answer.

But do not understand the philosophy of Microsoft: Down below it is said: As
is the practice of other software programs that interact with USENET
communities, the IP Address of your computer will be included in the header
    of this post. More...
and when you click on the More...
there is an answer which contradict with the above sentence:
Once you complete your message, and click the Send button, your message is
processed and permanently posted to the discussion group.
....but I see below only Post and Close buttons, I do not see Send button.
Is it safe to talk with you anyway?
I'll make myself bold to do so, and I push the button Post (hope it reaches
    you!)

In plain English - stopping/starting and renaming the SoftwareDistribution folder -

    Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
    Click Stop.

Hope the above has been useful in explaining some of the things you have read.

This appears to be a problem with whatever e-mail client you are using to
receive the e-mails. The URLs quoted by the automatic reminder service are
long, and have been line-wrapped for human legibility. But a good e-mail
client should recognise the "<" at the beginning of the URL, and join it up
with the ">" at the end of the URL, so that if you click on the URL, the
whole multi-line URL is automatically re-assembled and passed over to your
    web browser.

You should not need to copy the URL to the browser, as the line-wraps will
make that impossible. You should just be able to click on the URL as a live
    link.

Which e-mail client application are you using?

I am using e-mail client application from Saunalahti Finland.
For instance, it does not remind anything like Windows Outlook (Express).
What should I do next? Contact my e-mail provider, or what?

The problem lies with the e-mail application, not with your e-mail service
    provider.

Morning, I have tried the instructions below in both methods, the CMD prompt
and the run line. Neither works.. Any other suggestions?

Re: Windows Update failed Error Code: 80072EFD

Re: error code 80072EFD for windows update and error code oX80072EFD for windows defender and can't sign in to secure websites.

Believe me, I spend 4 days and nights, doing what ever websites, microsoft supports over and over again. I even resorted to go online with HP chat, and they told me to reinstall which I did, and I ended much worse, because I still can't update and sign in to secure websites, and I don't even have a single update to protect me. And when again contact HP, they said I have to bring in the notebook for a fee of $298++taxes for repairs. No way, Jose.

Out of desperation, I went to HP online and click for support, let it automatically detect my notebook and reload all the drivers and updates from their website, noting in particular the Flash BIOS option. Hallelujah, it work, it work.

Hope this helps to those who want to give up with error 80072EFD.

I downloaded a trial version of spy hunter 4 and it fixed it as it down loaded. and took care of the Trojan that caused it. $40.00 but the trial wil fix the error 80072efd.
