    Vista update error message 80070652

I have been able to install updates fine until now, but two are failing under
this code, which I can not find anywhere for the meaning. The two updates
are: security update for office 2007 (KB934062) and Office 2007 update
    (KB934393)
How do I get them to work? Thanks in advance

80070652 means that a previous installation has not run to completion
    successfully.

Try Start -> Microsoft Office -> Microsoft Office Tools -> Microsoft Office
    Diagnostics

to see whether that clears the problem. You might need your Office 2007
    installation CD.

I have the same problem and I've tried your suggestion. The Microsoft Office
Diagnostic found one problem, but it was unable to correct it automatically.
So it gave me an online report. It said that I need an Office Update and I
can find it on the Microsoft Office Update website. And here I quote :
"Microsoft Windows Vista users can now get all Office XP, Office 2003, and
2007 Office system updates via the Microsoft Update service " So it's a
    big-big circle of ...

    Hello,

I've also the same problem, and the diagnostic did not do anything. My
office just works fine so I will not worry much about this.

    Thanks for the tip anyway.

    Hi!

I've found a "solution" for the problem. I could do the update while the
    Vista was shutting down.

I have six updates that will not load and that generate code 80070652.

The solution above did not work for me. I still cannot these load six
updates as send by MS. All fail on installation, however the Office Update
Website says my updates are all complete. In the meantime I cannot load
useful programs becuase these jolly MS updates are a pending installation. I
cannot clear the installation, and I cannot stop these updates clogging my
    system.

    Can anyone help?

I'm in the same boat. I've got six Office updates that fail to load and the
error code is 80070652. Those updates failed before with a code of 80070002
which I believe was caused by interference with the virus checker. I
disabled that and started getting the 80070652 errors. When I shutdown Vista
it says it is installing the updates but when I startup again they have all
    failed.

I have real software that I need to install on this machine. It won't work
because it says an installation is already in progress. I assume that's the
failing updates, but maybe there's something else that's preventing both the
Office updates and the other installations. Is there any way to figure out
just what installation Vista thinks is still active?

I was unable to solve the problem. In the end, I went back, using system
restore, losing other installations, to a date before the updates were
issued. The system then 'unclogged' allowing me to install my new programs.
I was later able to install the updates after some effort, and only on an
    exit and restart.

RE: Vista update error message 80070652

I wonder why MS does not recognise the problem displayed on the screen...when
you click on help..and take you to that solution? Running in circles to
    get help is MySuffering.....MS.
Vista help is non existent..... web online often has the answer... Shutting
down Vista when an update is not able to install...closing shows a warning
not to shutdown while windows is installing "Update".
I have come to believe the server is so busy...it cannot carry the load of
all who are trying to update. The update eventually will install....if you
keep trying. But who wants to spend all that time with a failed update?

I wonder why MS can not fix...or repair such...and other MS
programs....online...automatically....? Some wise person should start a
website to do these repairs...online... I understand MS does not legally
    allow such sites?

If MS can not do it...or simply is too busy making money...they can not
support their programs...and the programs are constantly being updated...the
program must not be ready for the marketplace. They call such advertising
of support...which is not there....FRAUD. The FTC should step in... Or we
users should switch to other Operating Systems... or leave PC behind. I for
one have spent many thousands of dollars on PC and software...MS.... Much of
that to "fix" problems. If they cannot fix it..... then don't buy it.
OneCare is oly one of the constant problems...which OneCare can not fix.
(These programmers are in different groups...and I do not think the know what
    the other groups are doing...
BILL is the word for it money. Gates....are what keep users from having
software that if working....we are simply unpaid bug reporters.... We are
supposed to be consumers of usable products.

I have hit the same error I did however opt out of the update diagnostic at
install and this may be the way around it.

Update Diagnostic — Unable to access a required file

The Update Diagnostic was unable to run because it requires a file that you
have chosen not to download. To give Microsoft Office permission to download
this file, do one of the following in one of these 2007 Office release
    programs:

    *Access, Excel, PowerPoint, or Word
    1. Click the Microsoft Office ButtonButton image, and then click
Access Options, Excel Options, PowerPoint Options, or Word Options.
    2. Click Trust Center, click Advanced Trust Center Settings, and
    then click Privacy Options.
    3. Select the Download a file periodically that helps determine
    system problems check box.
    4. Wait about a week to allow the file to be downloaded, and then
    run Microsoft Office Diagnostics again.

    * Visio, Outlook, Publisher, or InfoPath
    1. On the Tools menu, click Trust Center, and then click Privacy
    Options.
    2. Select the Download a file periodically that helps determine
    system problems check box.
    3. Wait about a week to allow the file to be downloaded, and then
    run Microsoft Office Diagnostics again

    Hope this helps,

And as a side note the method I posted just above did in fact work for me. I
also made sure to kill all office related tasks running before attempting to
    run the updates again.

    Ctrl+Alt+Del -> task manager -> Processes tab

    Dont forget that sneaky GrooveMonitor.exe

Note: you really dont need to wait a week for the file to download as
    proposed by the excerpt above.

    Once again hope this works,
    B

Mine was for Security update for Office 2007(KB951808)
On the fourth attempt it successfully installed. I did wait 15 minutes
    before attempting the fourth time.
I think its a case of perserverence. (Don't let it beat you).
