    Hi,
It seems that permissions have changed on some registry/file entries.
Can you please send the following log file
    C:\users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log

Please substitute <user name> with your windows user account name.

Also, please open a Administrator command prompt and send the output of the
    following commands
    sc qc wuauserv
    sc query wuauserv

Open an Administrator command prompt by right clicking on Start -> All
Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt and selecting "Run as
Administrator" and clicking "Allow" for the elevation prompt

    Hi,
Based on the log, it appears to be a permission issue with some registry
    entries.
Can you please try downloading and installing the following file
    http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7...gent30-x64.exe

This is an updated version of WU client as part of WSUS 3.0 release.

The above URL is for 64-bit version since you mentioned that you have Vista
    ultimate 64-bit edition.

Please see if installing the 3.0 client resolves the problem.

    Re: error WindowsUpdate_80070005

    Hello everyone,

I have a similar error except that I am using Vista Ultimate 32. Basically,
I was installing updates and up to a certain point I couldn't install anymore
and I get the error 80070005.

    I used the solution

    fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\

And I was able to install updates again. However, after installing updates
yesterday, I wasn't able to install any more today. So I used that solution
    again

    fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\

And I was able to install the remaining updates.

I'm waiting for another update to see if I can install or not or if I need
    to type

    fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\

for it to work. But for now, it seems that I always have to type that
command before. It looks like every updates screw up the resource manager.
