Re: Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Serv

I tried to follow the "Answer" posted by Bob on 7-10-2005. I downloaded the
Windows Install Clean-up program, but when I went to install it I got an
error message saying "Windows Script Host ... Error: ActiveX component can't
create object: 'Scripting.FileSystemObject' ... Code: 800A01AD ... Source:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error"

I am still having the same problems as the prior posters about the Microsoft
..NET Framework, Version 1.1 and its update 866903 not installing. I now have
the KB866903 and two (2) Versions of 1.1 in my Add/Remove Programs, and the
KB866903 will not uninstall and only one of the Versions 1.1 will uninstall,
leaving the other on the system. When I try to install the KB866903, I get
the same error 0x643 as other before me.

Any other suggestions?

Re: Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Serv

I had the same error that you did. Try extacting the contents of the Windows
Install Clean-Up tool to a folder on your hard drive using WinZip. Double
click on the msicuu.msi file to install the utility. If it doesn't work the
first time, as happened to me, I found the file it complained about lacking
(MsiZap.exe) on another of my computers that wasn't giving me grief and
dumped it into the folder where this Utility gets installed: Program
Files/Windows Installer Clean Up. Now I was able to run the Clean Up utility
and get the junk off the computer.

Since there will still be remnants of the folders left, the following post
in letter "f" mentions a third party app that did the rest of the job of
removing the other remnants. Remember to try uninstalling using Add/Remove
programs first.
http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/com...y=kb928366&dg=

Good luck as it took me the better part of an afternoon to remove >NET 1.1
from my computer.
