where has my realtek sound manager gone?

it appears that after installing the latest microsoft update, my ability to
control my sound output has vanished!!!!!!!!
I was under the assumption that microsofts stuff has benn checked to make
sure it doesn't interfere with other programs?
i hope you sort this problem soon!

Re: where has my realtek sound manager gone?

Hi there,

Always check what updates you are taking and never take any driver updates
from M unless you want problems.

Roll back on your driver or use system restore in safe mode

Take driver updates only if the hardware is not functioning well: if it
ain't broke: do not "fix" it .

In this case you can go to the realtek website if a driver is needed.

Best regards,
Michel Denie

Um, the OP downloaded updates, not drivers, and the latest update is a
known issue with realtek sound. Realtek has a fix on their web site.

Re: where has my realtek sound manager gone?

Hi there ,

The report was incomplete so it sounded like a driver update messed the
sound up.

Re: where has my realtek sound manager gone?

click start, click run, type in \cabs\AC97Realtek5630\setup.exe and hit ok, you should have it back unless you deleted something.
